Abderaman Koulamallah, Chad’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, African Integration, Chadians Abroad, and International Cooperation, reiterated on Wednesday in Dakhla his country’s “commitment to the Royal Initiative to provide Sahelian countries with access to the Atlantic Ocean.”
In a joint press release of Morocco’s Foreign Affairs Minister Nasser Bourita, Koulamallah highlighted the mutual interest of both nations in advancing commercial relations, particularly through the royal initiative. He also noted Chad’s desire to see this initiative become operational.
Koulamallah explained that this initiative “aligns well with the goals of Sahelian countries without coastlines and will improve living conditions for populations across the Sahel and West Africa.”
Both ministers applauded the work of the national task forces during their meetings in Rabat on June 5-6, 2024, pointing out that the Moroccan task force’s projects are “in line with Chad’s ongoing national development plan.”
Koulamallah lauded King Mohammed VI’s initiative under the Atlantic African States Process, which seeks to strengthen cooperation and transform the Atlantic and Sahel regions into a strategic framework for intra-African collaboration.
Both officials also expressed satisfaction with the progress on the Nigeria-Morocco Atlantic Gas Pipeline project, which they view as “a symbol of South-South cooperation.”
Once completed, the pipeline is expected to enhance living standards and boost regional economic integration.
