Moroccan and Palestinian children participated in the “Yacoub Al-Mansour Almohade” women’s basketball and futsal tournament, which opened on Monday at the Ziaten indoor hall in Tangier.
Two teams from Al Quds and Morocco competed in the basketball match, while three Moroccan and three Palestinian teams faced off in futsal. Four of these teams advanced to the next stage of the competition, vying for the tournament’s ultimate prizes.
The tournament, held as part of the 15th edition of the summer camp for Palestinian children, aims to foster friendships between Moroccan and Palestinian children and to promote the role of sports in developing values such as discipline, perseverance, generosity, and fair play.
The event also serves to celebrate the historic solidarity between the Moroccan and Palestine people.
The competition will conclude with a closing ceremony on Wednesday, during which trophies will be awarded to the winning teams.
The ceremony will also feature artistic performances and recreational initiatives led by Moroccan and Palestinian children.
The Regional Academy of Education and Training of the Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region (AREF-TTA) and the Regional Directorate of Youth orgnized the tournament.
Running until August 25, 2024, the summer camp offers a diverse range of activities for nearly 4,000 Palestinian children.
The program includes educational tours to cities such as Casablanca, Rabat, Tangier, Tetouan, and Chefchaouen. In addition to these excursions, the camp features various competitions, leisure activities, and opportunities for interaction with Moroccan children at their summer camps in the diplomatic forest of Tangier.
This year’s program focuses on recreational activities, psychological support sessions, and educational exercises on first aid and rescue operations, all conducted by professional trainers.
