A 5.5-magnitude earthquake centered in Syria’s Hama region late Monday night also sent tremors across Turkey’s southern provinces, including Hatay and Gaziantep, Türkiye Today reported.
The quake was felt across the Middle East in Syria, Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, and Israel.
Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) reported that the earthquake occurred at around 11:56 p.m. local time at a depth of 19 kilometers.
The tremors caused concern among residents in southern Turkey, particularly in Hatay and Gaziantep, where many people left their homes and gathered in the streets.
The region, still tense from previous seismic events, experienced heightened anxiety following the quake. However, there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

The 2023 quake killed over 55,00 individuals, including 20 Moroccans.
