Richardson’s transfer marks a transition from French football to the Italian Series A after only one season with Reims, according to a report by French, sport-focused media L’Equipe.
Richardson, 22, joined Reims in the summer of 2022 from Le Havre, although he was quickly loaned back to his former club.
Despite his brief stay, his performance earned him significant recognition, including a recent bronze medal with Morocco at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Fiorentina confirmed the signing early Monday, but specific contract details have not been disclosed.
However, reports suggest that the transfer fee could be as much as €10 million, with an additional 10% resale value potentially influencing future negotiations.
This move also means that Richardson will not reunite with Luka Elsner at Reims. Elsner, who had previously coached Richardson in Normandy, was appointed head coach at Reims earlier this summer.
The young midfielder appeared with Reims in 28 matches, scoring three goals, and providing one assist across all competitions.
