Border Police and customs officers at the Bab Sebta checkpoint in north-eastern Morocco successfully thwarted a 22 kg cannabis resin smuggling operation on Saturday.
The illicit substance was meticulously concealed in the spare tire compartment within a light vehicle registered in Morocco.
The driver, arrested on the spot, is a Moroccan national resident abroad (MRE) holding a French passport, according to the same source.
The suspect was handed over to the judicial police for further investigation, under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office.
