Morocco’s Olympic champions arrived at Rabat International Airport on Saturday to a warm and enthusiastic reception from fans.
The convoy of heroes includes the Men’s U-23 Olympic Football team, who earned the bronze medal with a remarkable performance, and Soufiane El Bakkali, who secured his second gold medal in the 3000m steeplechase.
Fans gathered in large numbers to celebrate the athletes, who have made the nation proud.
Soufiane El Bakkali’s exceptional performance in the final, where he finished with a time of 8:06.05 on Wednesday evening, was a highlight of the games.
The Atlas Lions captivated supporters with their impressive play, topping Group B and advancing past the US with a decisive 4-0 victory on August 2.
Although they lost to Spain in the semifinals, the team made history by becoming the first Arab country to win an Olympic bronze medal, following an impressive 6-0 win over Egypt.
In addition to the team’s success, striker Soufiane Rahimi was awarded the top scorer of the tournament. Rahimi earned the prize after scoring a sweeping eight goals throughout the competition.
