Morocco and the Republic of Azerbaijan have waived visa requirements for Moroccan and Azerbaijani citizens starting from August 28th which marks the 32nd anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations, the Moroccan embassy in Azerbaijan stated on Friday.

“Similarly, Moroccan nationals would enjoy the same visa-free rights when entering Azerbaijan,” it added.
This proposal is viewed as a possible catalyst for increased travel and trade between the two countries.
The decision of the visa-free initiative on this date demonstrates the two countries’ shared commitment to developing their fraternal connections.
The visa waiver agreement is the outcome of extensive diplomatic talks, reflecting both governments’ desire to facilitate travel for their residents. This effort is one of several steps aimed at improving bilateral collaboration in a variety of areas, including trade, tourism, culture, and education.
Moroccan and Azerbaijani officials expect that the visa exemption would result in a considerable increase in the number of travelers between the two countries.
Tourism exchanges should benefit further, with opportunities for expansion in the hotel, restaurant, and allied services sectors. Business opportunities also may increase, providing enterprises in both countries with new avenues for collaboration and investment.
On July 15, President Ilham Aliyev signed legislation recognizing the Agreement between the Governments of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Kingdom of Morocco, which exempts holders of general civil passports from visa restrictions.
Morocco and Azerbaijan inked an agreement on visa exemption for holders of regular passports from both countries, in May in Banjul, The Gambia.
Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita and his Azerbaijani peer Jeyhoun Baîramov inked an agreement in a fringe meeting at the 15th Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Summit Conference, which began on Saturday in Banjul.
Bayramov visited Rabat in November 2023, and met with Bourita as they both co-chair the 2nd Joint Committee meeting on bilateral cooperation.
