The Zouj Bghal border crossing between Morocco and Algeria was opened to receive 60 Moroccans on Tuesday, including one woman, who had been detained in Algeria.
These people were released after serving their sentences in Algerian prisons, after spending between three years and six months in Algeria’s prisons in addition to nine months of administrative detention.
“The freed ones are originally from several Moroccan cities, including Fkih Ben Salah, Casablanca, Oujda and Meknes,”the Moroccan Association for the Support of Migrants in Vulnerable Situations said.
The association is closely monitoring a number of cases in this respect, as hundreds of young people are still in administrative detention awaiting deportation.
This operation has previously encountered a number of technical and procedural difficulties, which the association has tried to resolve.
Many of those released suffered from chronic illnesses such as asthma, epilepsy, diabetes and hypertension.
This is the third repatriation operation in August. The first involved six people, while the second repatriated 16 Moroccan detainees.
More than 320 cases are under investigation and trial, and six bodies, including two from the Eastern region, are awaiting repatriation to their families.
The association has previously facilitated judicial and administrative procedures to this end.
