FIFA President Gianni Infantino extended his congratulations to U-23 Morocco’s Atlas Lions for securing the bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
“My heartfelt congratulations to Morocco on winning the bronze medal in the men’s Olympic Football Tournament of Paris 2024,” Infantino wrote in an Instagram post.
He highlighted that Morocco’s first-ever podium finish at the Olympics is “something to be extremely proud of.”
The Moroccan U-23 team earned the Olympic bronze after a resounding 6-0 victory over Egypt on Thursday at La Beaujoire Stadium in Nantes, France.
This historic win marks Morocco’s first Olympic medal in men’s football and their second overall medal at the Paris Summer Olympics.
On Wednesday, Moroccan reigning world champion and Olympic runner Soufiane El Bakkali claimed Morocco’s first Olympic gold medal with a triumphant victory in the 3,000m steeplechase race.
