Moroccan athlete Mohamed Tindouft has secured a spot in the 3,000m steeplechase final at the Paris Olympics, finishing first in his qualifying heat with a time of 8:10.62.
Tindouft outpaced Ethiopia’s Firewu Samuel, who clocked in at 8:11.61 in second place, and Kenya’s Kibiwot Abraham, who came third in a time of 8:12.02.
The final is scheduled for Wednesday at the Stade de France.
Tindouft previously represented Morocco at the 2017 World Championships, but did not advance to the finals. He also won gold medals at the 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games and the 2017 Francophonie Games, held in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
He also competed in the men’s 3,000m steeplechase at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
