Sport website Futsalplanet named Morocco’s futsal team coach Hicham Dguig the best men’s futsal coach in the world for 2023.
The men’s team was also awarded the winning title of “the best futsal team in the world for 2023” by the same platform.
This accolade recognizes Dguig’s outstanding achievements in leading the Moroccan national futsal team, demonstrating high competence, and achieving impressive results on international, continental, and regional stages.
This award celebrates Dguig’s distinguished career, during which he has won numerous titles with the national team, enhancing Morocco’s standing in the global futsal arena. The recognition is an international acknowledgment of Dguig’s abilities and his ongoing success in developing the national team’s capabilities.
The Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has said that under the leadership of coach Hicham Dguig, the team is now preparing for the upcoming Futsal World Cup, which will be held in Uzbekistan from September 14 to October 6, 2024.
The nominees for the best futsal coach of 2023 included Bakhodir Akhmedov from Uzbekistan, who led the national team until October 2023, and Hicham Dguig from Morocco. As well as Federico Vidal Montaldo from Spain, who was replaced by Albert Canillas “Cani” between September and December due to personal reasons but remained the head coach.
The list also featured Jorge Gomes Braz representing Portugal, Kenichiro Kogure with the Japanese national team, Brazil’s Marcos “Marquinhos” Xavier Andrade, and Matías Raúl Lucuix for Argentina. In addition to Majid Mortezaei Abroudi from Afghanistan, Raphaël Reynaud from France, and Iran’s Vahid Shamsaei.
