Police in the coastal city of El Jadida thwarted an attempt to smuggle 3.18 tons of cannabis resin and arrested two brothers, on Friday, over suspicion of their involvement in an international maritime drug trafficking network.
The security operation occurred in the rural area of “Dahajja Coast,” near Oualidia. The police caught the suspects, aged 38 and 43, carrying 76 bundles of cannabis resin. Police also seized a rubber boat, boat engines, several barrels of fuel, and maritime navigation equipment.
The suspects are currently under custody, and an investigation is underway under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office to explore further connections to this criminal activity and to identify and arrest other individuals involved.
