The Moroccan football team will face Spain on Monday, August 5, at 5:00 p.m. (GMT+1), in the semifinals of the men’s football tournament at the 2024 Olympic Games.
Spain secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Japan today at the Groupama Stadium in Lyon, France. Barcelona forward Fermín López was the standout player, scoring two goals in the 11th and 73rd minutes, while Girona’s Abel Ruiz netted the third goal in the 89th minute.
Earlier, Morocco advanced to the semifinals after crushing the United States 4-0 on Friday at Parc des Princes stadium in Paris.
Moroccan player Soufiane Rahimi converted a penalty in the 29th minute. Ilias Akhomach doubled the lead in the 63rd minute, before Achraf Hakimi scored the third seven minutes later.
El Mehdi Maouhoub (90th+1st) quadrupled the score with a penalty awarded by the match referee after consulting VAR.
