Maria Emilia Orozco, an Argentinian Deputy, and Fares Yassir, Morocco’s Ambassador to Argentina, co-chaired the founding ceremony of the Morocco-Argentina Parliamentary Friendship Group at Argentina’s Congress on Thursday.
The recently assembled group, which consists of 12 deputies from various political parties in the Argentina Congress, seeks to reinforce relations between Morocco and Argentina.
Orozco, who was appointed as president of the group, emphasized Argentina’s commitment to strengthening bonds with Morocco in the economic, social and cultural fields.
She highlighted the importance of the event, noting that it coincides with the 25th anniversary of Morocco’s Throne Day, which she described as a period of “development, prosperity, and democratic consolidation” for the kingdom.
Ambassador Yassir emphasized Morocco’s positive perception of Argentina as a “friendly nation” and a “reliable and stable economic partner.” The two countries will celebrate the 65th anniversary of their diplomatic relations next year.
Yassir emphasized the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening bilateral cooperation in areas such as “territorial integrity, climate change, food and energy security, and combating terrorism, drug trafficking, and migration.”
