Moroccan football star Soufiane Rahimi broke the world record of the number of goals in Olympic games since 1972 after scoring four goals in three successive games in the Olympic games held in Paris.
Rahimi scored the Moroccan national team’s second goal against Iraq in the 28th minute, in the decisive match to advance to the quarter final of the men’s tournament.
The player scored a brace against Argentina in the opening match and came back to score Morocco’s only goal against Ukraine, bringing his tally of goals in this event to four, making him the top scorer.
The achievement of Rahimi, the top scorer of the Asian Championships with the UAE’s Al Ain Club, did not stop there, as he removed Moroccan football legend Ahmed Faras from Morocco’s top scorer in the Olympics after 52 years of the latter’s steadfastness with 3 goals, specifically since the 1972 Munich edition.
It is noteworthy that Rahimi’s name was not included in the Olympics list until Real Madrid player Brahim Diaz apologized for not attending, because club president Perez banned all team players from participating in the Olympics as it does not fall within the international agenda.
