Police in Tangier on Wednesday seized 41,120 psychotropic pills and arrested four individuals, aged between 36 and 62, over suspicion of involvement in a drug and psychotropic trafficking network.
According to a press release from the National Police (DGSN), the operation is part of an ongoing investigation into a suspect apprehended last Saturday in Salé (Rabat twin city). The individual was caught red-handed with 9,983 psychotropic pills of various types upon arriving by train from Tangier.
The DGSN noted that further investigation identified four accomplices linked to the trafficking operation. These individuals were arrested in coordinated security raids across several neighborhoods in Tangier.
During searches of the suspects’ homes, police uncovered significant quantities of psychotropic drugs, including 3,000 ecstasy pills and 38,120 “Rivotril” pills, as well as a sum of money believed to be connected to the criminal activities.
The suspects are currently in custody and are undergoing a judicial investigation under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office to determine the full extent of their criminal activities and any potential connections.
