Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s co-founder and the CEO of Meta Platforms, added $11 billion to his net worth on Thursday, making him the world’s third wealthiest person.
Zuckerberg’s net worth rose from $167 billion to $178 billion as Meta’s stock price noted a 6% uptick, marking its second-biggest rise over the past year. The Meta CEO holds a 13% stake in the company, according to Forbes.
Forbes’ real-time billionaires tracker shows that rallying stocks propelled Zuckerberg from the fifth position on the list of the wealthiest individuals to third place.
The 40-year-old billionaire surpassed Europe’s richest man, LVMH chairman Bernard Arnault, who has a net worth of $177 billion, and Oracle chairman Larry Ellison, worth $172 billion.
Topping the list is Tesla CEO Elon Musk, followed by Amazon chairman Jeff Bezos with a net worth of $205 billion.
Zuckerberg is now more than three times as wealthy as he was in September 2022, when his fortune fell below $60 billion. At that time, Meta stock struggled, knocking him out of Forbes’ ranking of the 10 richest people for the first time since 2015.
Meta is currently the sixth-most valuable company in the world, with a market capitalization of $1.3 trillion. The Meta CEO is also expected to earn about $691 million annually from Meta’s quarterly cash dividend.
