Morocco will be represented in the mixed wheelchair tennis doubles in the upcoming Paris Paralympics by the dynamic duo of Najwa Awane and Lhaj Boukartacha. The duo previously competed together for Morocco in the Tokyo 2021 Games.
Paris will host the Paralympic Games for the first time from August 28 to September 8, 2024, where 4,400 athletes are expected to compete in 549 different competitions.
Awane, who won the African Paralympic Games in Accra in September last year, will be joined by Boukartacha and Saïd Himam, as well as Samira Benichi who finished second in Accra.
Boukartacha, Himam, and Benichi all qualified for the Paris Paralympic Games by receiving “wild cards” as Africa’s best-ranked male and female players and due to their outstanding results at the Marrakech Open from July 5 to 7, 2024, at the R.T.C. Marrakech .
The Paralympic wheelchair tennis games will bring together 48 male and 32 female players from multiple continents.
