Moroccan boxer Widad Bertal successfully advanced to the quarterfinals in the women’s flyweight division (under 54 kg) at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, on Tuesday.
Bertal secured her position in the next stage of the competition by defeating her Thai opponent, Jutamas Jitpong, with a 3-2 victory upon the judges’ decision.
Moroccan boxer Yasmine Mouttaki was eliminated from the competition in the Round of 16 in the women’s light flyweight division (under 50 kg). Mouttaki was defeated by Filipino competitor Aira Villegas, winning by unanimous decision (5-0).
Morocco’s Achraf Moutii was knocked out of the competition in the Round of 16 in the men’s under 81 kg category. He was defeated by South Korea’s Lee Joonhwan.
Khadija El Mardi is also representing Morocco in the women’s middleweight (75 kg) class of the boxing competition.
