King Mohammed VI of Morocco stressed the need for a two-state solution as the cornerstone of the Palestinian cause.
In the Throne Day speech on Tuesday, the king reiterated Morocco’s continued commitment to supporting the Palestinian people and resolving the long-standing crisis in the region.
King Mohammed VI used his speech to reaffirm Morocco’s stance on the two-state solution, stressing its importance for achieving comprehensive peace and stability in the Middle East.
“Achieving complete security and stability in the region can be realized only within the framework of the two-state solution,” he stated. The King emphasized that Gaza must be an integral part of an independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The King’s remarks come at a time when Israel’s war on Gaza is claiming tens of thousands of Palestinians.
He underscored that while ending the current war is crucial, it must be accompanied by efforts to create political conditions conducive to a sustainable and just peace.
“If putting an end to the war in Gaza is an urgent priority, then this must be achieved concurrently with opening up political prospects conducive to a just and lasting peace in the region,” King Mohammed VI asserted.
King Mohammed VI also called for renewed negotiations between the Palestinian and Israeli sides, stressing that these discussions must be free from extremist influences.
“Opting for negotiations to revive the peace process between the Palestinian and Israeli sides requires cutting off the path for extremists—from whatever side they may come,” he said.
His address reflects Morocco’s longstanding support for the two-state solution and its broader strategy to advocate for the Palestinian cause through diplomacy.
In addition to advocating for the two-state solution, King Mohammed VI recalled Morocco’s commitment to providing humanitarian air for Palestine.
As Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, he facilitated the delivery of urgent food and medical aid to Gaza.
King Mohammed VI’s speech also served as a call to the international community to support the two-state solution and assist in resolving the crisis in Gaza.
He urged global leaders to prioritize diplomacy and take meaningful steps to support the establishment of an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel.
