The Enactus team from the Mohammadia Engineering School (EMI) will represent Morocco this year at the Enactus World Cup, the largest student social entrepreneurship competition, scheduled for October 2-4, in Astana, Kazakhstan.
The Moroccan team will compete against teams from 35 countries for the global title.
The EMI team secured its global participation after winning the national final at the 20th edition of the Sustainable Innovation Fest 2024, a national social entrepreneurship competition hosted by Enactus Morocco.
The final, held on July 18 in Casablanca, attracted a record number of participants, with over 50 teams representing different regions of Morocco, along with business and academic representatives.
The team, an eight-time national winner, had developed three innovative projects that addressed 16 of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
The first project, “Tadefi,” seeks to utilize “Tazgmout,” an underexploited by-product of argan, while also engaging local women who work in the sector.
The second project, “EPIC,” supplies waterproof pots to communities affected by severe weather and eco-friendly waterproof clothing to athletes and sports enthusiasts.
The third project, “Niyya,” is Morocco’s first tourism application tailored for all users, particularly those with visual impairments.
The World Cup event host, Enactus, is a network of young leaders that aim to use innovation for positive social and environmental impacts worldwide.
