In a session at the Upper House Fouzi Lekjaa, Minister Delegate in charge of the budget, disclosed on Tuesday that the anticipated cost of the national social protection scheme is set to reach 29 billion MAD by 2025.
“The expenditure for the initiative has reached 17.45 billion MAD as of July, with 2.04 billion MAD transferred during just that month, benefiting approximately 3.8 million families across the country,” Lekjaa said.
The official characterized the project as a “social revolution” initiated by King Mohammed VI and highlighted the government’s commitment to adhering to the legislative timetable for its implementation.
Lekjaa also highlighted the importance of ensuring the project’s long-term viability, noting that it is a key consideration in budget planning.
He explained that “framework law No. 09-21 has established the fundamental principles of financing, including the revision of current social programs, which exceed 90 programs and represent a significant financial commitment.”
The review of social programs, sustainability of the solidarity social contribution, and implementation of fiscal and liberatory contributions are, according to the minister, key to ensuring financial viability of the social protection project.
