At a ceremony on Wednesday, in Rabat, the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Integration and Family announced the launch of an e-platform designed to streamline the application process for disability cards.
Minister Hayar underlined her department’s dedication to ensuring access for individuals with disabilities to fundamental services in line with royal directives.
Developed in collaboration with various governmental sectors and civil society organizations, the initiative strives to guarantee inclusive access to healthcare, education, employment, economic integration, and cultural and recreational activities.
Hayar indicated that the initial design of the electronic platform incorporates user-friendly features that are specifically tailored for individuals with disabilities and their families.
The platform will provide comprehensive information on the new disability assessment system, guidance on the application process, along with instructional videos.
All applicants and their legal representatives, including guardians for minors, will be able to create personalized profiles to upload required documents and monitor the progress of their applications.
She pointed out that the platform will be pilot-tested simultaneously with the rollout of regulations for issuing disability cards in the Rabat region.
In this phase, the beneficiaries will be selected and the necessary elements for a full-scale implementation will be put in place by September 2024.
Further expansion is scheduled to commence in October 2024 in the region, aiming to make the program available nationwide by the end of 2024.
Once issued, the card shall serve as an official document, conferring recognition of disability status and granting holders priority access to services and rights set out in the Financial Law, including but not limited to support from the Social Protection and Social Cohesion Support Fund and specific provisions from relevant sectors or institutions.
The launch of the electronic platform is in line with the principles of streamlined administrative procedures and makes use of the latest digital technology advancements.
Hayar conveyed gratitude for the collaborative efforts of government sectors, public institutions, international organizations, and civil society in developing the platform.
Coordination with the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, and the Digital Development Agency enabled the successful trial of electronic data integration with the National Population Register.
