Morocco’s Ministry of Justice and Police Services (DGSN) signed a protocol agreement on Wednesday to regulate and facilitate cooperation in electronic data exchange.
As Minister of Justice Abdellatif Ouahbi presided over the signing ceremony, Samia Chakri, Director of Modernization and Information Systems at the Ministry of Justice, and Lahcen Rhanim, Director of Information and Communication Systems at DGSN signed the agreement.
The agreement enables the verification and supplementation of citizen identification data based on the information contained in a citizen’s electronic national identity card (CNIE), thereby streamlining legal proceedings before Moroccan courts.
Chakri stated that the partnership will “accelerate procedures and reduce processing times for judicial cases,” ensuring the authenticity of declared data, primarily linked to information in the electronic national identity card.
The agreement will also allow DGSN to access updated data from information systems related to the management of judicial affairs, while “fully respecting the provisions of the law on the protection of personal data,” she added.
The cooperation “underscores the spirit of collaboration between DGSN and the Ministry of Justice,” Rhanim said. “Its objective is to facilitate the fulfillment of public service missions and enhance the efficiency of the judicial system and the quality of services provided to citizens.”
Rhanim noted DGSN’s commitment to ensuring the optimal implementation of the project by providing necessary material and human resources and promoting the sharing of experiences and expertise gained from previous projects.
In a joint press release, the Ministry of Justice and DGSN said that “the agreement establishes rules and channels for the exchange and use of data, adhering to meticulous standards related to the physical and digital security of data in full compliance with current laws and regulations, including the protection of citizens’ personal data.”
To ensure the effective implementation of the agreement, a joint monitoring committee composed of representatives from the signatory parties will be established.
