Morocco’s Olympic squad captain Achraf Hakimi took to social media to express his disappointment after Moroccan fans stormed the pitch before the end of the game against Argentina in the opening game of the Olympics.
While celebrating Morocco’s win over Albiceleste, Hakimi denounced the behavior of some supporters: “I deplore the attitude of some supporters during the match that tarnished the image of our loyal fans,” Hakimi wrote on Instagram.

Fans stormed the pitch after Argentinians scored the equalizer at the 106th minute. The match was then suspended and all fans were escorted outside the pitch, seemingly ending the game with a 2-2 score on the board.
However, the match resumed after an extended period of wait where the remaining three minutes were played and Argentina’s equalizing goal was disallowed after a VAR review, ending the match with Morocco as the winner with a 2-1 score.
