In the third week of July alone, 16 people were killed and 2,783 injured, 94 seriously, in traffic accidents in urban areas around Morocco, according to the General Direction of National Security’s (DGSN) weekly report.
A total of 1,991 accidents during this past week were primarily caused by drivers’ negligence, speeding, failure to maintain a safe distance, and unauthorized changes of direction without using a signal, among other reasons.
Traffic enforcement officers reported 46,467 traffic violations and submitted 8,085 reports to the public prosecutor’s office. Offenders paid 38,382 MAD in fines.
The total fines collected were more than 8.3 Mln MAD. Police impounded 5,163 vehicles, revoked 8,085 documents, and immobilized 345 vehicles.
