Morocco’s Commission for Personal Data Protection (CNDP) is meeting with personal data protection institutions from several Sahel countries on July 23-24 in the southern city of Dakhla.
The commission said in a press release that it had invited the personal data protection institution in Mali, the Information and Freedoms Commission in Burkina Faso, the High Authority for Personal Data Protection in Niger, and the National Agency for Information Security and Electronic Certification in Chad.
“The inaugural Morocco-Sahel meeting seeks to exchange various experiences in personal data protection among Sahel countries,” CNDP stated, adding that “it will facilitate the exchange of knowledge and best practices, fostering regional cooperation to enhance data protection throughout the Sahel region.”
During yesterday’s meeting, the participants discussed ways to “verify identities provided by the National Police (DGSN) or Child Protection through the ‘Koun 3la Bal’ (Stay Up to Date) platform,” according to the CNDP.
The commission said that the meeting “will pave the way for a series of decisions and agreements to establish practical collaboration among these institutions.”
