Moroccan actress Saadia Louk passed away on Wednesday after a long battle with illness, local media reported. The Marrakech-born artist was hemiplegic (paralyzed down one side of her body) and had been bedridden for over two years.
She was considered one of the most prominent actresses in Morocco, who had gained fame along with actor Abdellah Ferkous. She starred in a variety of films and television works, including Zhar Lbatoul, Al Makroum, Bye-Bye Souirty, Wald Mou, Zman Kenza, and Al Farrouj, winning Moroccans’ affection due to her distinctive sense of humor.
Weeks ago, Moroccan actor Saïd Naciri and other contributors donated money to cover her hospital expenses after her daughter appealed for help to save her mother.
On social media, numerous netizens expressed their sorrow at her passing. They offered prayers for the deceased and wished courage and patience to her loved ones and friends.
They also urged the Moroccan Ministry of Culture to pay for Louk’s funeral arrangements.
