Marsa Maroc, a leading port operator, was selected to manage Terminals 1 and 5 at the Port of Cotonou, Benin, after an international tender conducted by the company Bénin Manutentions S.A.
Marsa Maroc announced that the formalization of the management contract is expected to be concluded shortly, according to a press release issued this week.
In its capacity as a partner, Marsa Maroc will provide Bénin Manutentions S.A. both with assistance in the operations of the terminals and the management of these operations.
Marsa Maroc aims to enhance the efficiency of untrusted facilities by building on its extensive experience and robust relationships with leading international shipping companies.
“Marsa Maroc is committed to meeting international standards and ensuring the timely operation of the terminals” the statement read. “This includes implementing several modernization projects to boost the terminals’ operational capabilities.”
The partnership falls under the umbrella of a broader South-South cooperation strategy, aiming to foster economic growth in the Beninese port sector.
As the leading terminal operator with a portfolio of 24 terminals across 10 ports and a 2023 handling volume of 57 million tons, Marsa Maroc is advancing its 2030 strategy. The company is reinforcing its commitment to expanding its international presence and achieving its global growth objectives.
