The government is working to establish a regulatory and legislative framework for the right to strike as part of a serious, responsible, and inclusive dialogue with trade unions, said administration Spokesperson Mustapha Baitas on Thursday in Rabat.
During a press briefing following the Government Council, Baitas stated that after presenting draft organic law n° 97.15 defining the conditions and procedures for exercising the right to strike, it would be discussed beginning today in order to advance in this participatory approach and receive various opinions within the Parliament.
After mentioning that the organic law on the conditions and procedures for exercising the right to strike is at the top of the list of laws outlined in the 2011 Constitution, Baitas stated that this draft is one of the reform projects on which the administration is working.
He also stated that the government’s institutionalization of social dialogue aims to debate fundamental topics of great importance while taking into account trade union demands, which are primarily concerned with the working class and its working conditions.
