Moroccan athletes competing in the 2024 Olympics taking place in Paris from July 26 to August 11 have begun traveling in large numbers to the French capital as of Thursday, the organizers announced.
“Moroccan athletes are arriving one group after another in Paris to take residence in the Olympic village, which opened its doors today,” the same source added.
Sixty participants representing 19 Olympic sports will represent Morocco in the Paris Olympics.
Morocco’s Olympic team this year includes 42 men and 18 women, making it the second largest in the country’s history after the 72 athletes who participated in the London Olympics in 2012.
Athletes competing in the Games can now officially enter the Olympic Village as of Thursday.
Up to the morning of the opening ceremony on July 26, the first athletes will move into their apartments in this community north of Paris, one thousand or two participants a day.
The 52-hectare village, which has a large sports hall, a polyclinic, a restaurant, places of worship, and a post office, will be home to 14,250 athletes at the height of the Games.
