A Royal Armed Forces (FAR) delegation, led by Major General Aziz Idrissi, has traveled to Ethiopia to discuss bilateral military cooperation and enhance regional stability, local media reported.
During a high-level meeting on July 15, Field Marshal Berhanu Jula, Chief of Staff of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF), received the Moroccan defense delegation.
The meeting seeks to renew Ethiopia and Morocco’s longstanding relations and explore opportunities for enhanced security collaboration.
Berhanu Jula highlighted “the historical ties between Ethiopia and Morocco, despite a temporary suspension of diplomatic relations,” expressing satisfaction at the reopening of communication channels.
Idrissi stressed the importance of military cooperation with the Ethiopian army and expressed the Kingdom’s commitment to strengthening military ties between Rabat and Addis Ababa.
During their stay, the Moroccan delegation plans to visit various state-of-the-art Ethiopian national defense force facilities, according to the Ethiopian Ministry of Defense. “This exchange of ideas and discussions is seen as an excellent foundation for establishing a defense agreement between the two countries,” wrote the Ethiopian National Defense Forces in a post on social media.
