In the second week of July, 16 people were killed and 106 were seriously injured out of 2,638 reported injuries in traffic accidents in urban areas in Morocco, according to the General Direction of National Security’s (DGSN) weekly report.
The total accident sum reached 1,919 and was primarily caused by drivers’ negligence, speeding, failure to maintain a safe distance, and unauthorized change of direction without using signaling among other reasons.
Concerning the control and repression of traffic offenses, the security services recorded 46,572 contraventions and submitted 7,546 reports to the public prosecutor’s office; 39,026 fines were paid.
The sum collected in respect of these fines totaled over 8.4 Mln MAD, 4,706 vehicles were impounded, 7,546 documents were withdrawn and 257 vehicles were immobilized.
