French prodigy Kylian Mbappe was officially presented as a Real Madrid player on Tuesday morning, in front of 80,000 fans who packed a sold-out Santiago Bernabeu.
“Real Madrid is the biggest club in the world. I’m so pleased to be here, and I hope to live up to everyone’s expectations, the club’s history and not disappoint,” the Frenchman said in fluent Spanish at the presentation ceremony, held after the 25-year-old completed the medical assessment.
“To be able to wear the shirt and one day say I was a Real Madrid player is a huge honor”, he underlined, adding that “today is the day I will never forget”.
The striker announced last month that he would join Real from PSG, but endured a frustrating few weeks after a semifinal exit at Euro 2024.
At the Euros, Mbappe scored only once, converting a penalty against Poland. Real Madrid has not allowed the former PSG player to join the French Olympic squad for the Paris Olympics as he will be the key player of the Madristats for the next season.
