Sweltering heat is forecast to hit several regions of Morocco from Tuesday to Thursday, with temperatures soaring as high as 47°C in some areas, according to a weather bulletin issued by the Meteorological Agency (DGM).
Hot weather is expected from Tuesday across the central southern provinces, the southeast, the Oriental region, the southern Rif, the Atlas, and Souss, stated Houcine Youaabed, Head of Communications at DGM.
Weather predictions indicate the probability of cumulus clouds forming in the southeastern, southern Oriental, and High and Middle Atlas regions.
The maximum temperatures are projected to range from 40°C to 47°C in the southeastern, Middle Atlas, and northeastern and southern Sahara provinces, and from 28°C to 34°C in the Tangier region and the Mediterranean coast.
The temperatures in the coastal regions, the Atlantic lowlands, and the Atlas Mountains will range from 24°C to 28°C near the Atlantic coastline and from 34°C to 40°C in the rest of the country, according to Youaabed.
On Wednesday, the temperatures are expected to range from high to extremely high in the central southern provinces, the southeast, the Oriental region, and the northern and central provinces.
Low clouds with fog are forecast in the morning and night over the Mediterranean, the Atlantic lowlands, and the southern coasts.
The afternoon will bring a slight increase in cloud, with scattered showers over the High and Middle Atlas regions, the South-East, the Oriental, and the North-East of the Southern provinces. Daytime temperatures will be higher in the northern and central lowlands, while there will be a slight decrease in temperatures elsewhere in the country.
Weather patterns for Thursday indicate a rise in temperatures over the northern and central regions of the country, as well as the southern provinces. Weather will be hot in the eastern provinces of the south, the southeast, the Oriental, the south of the Rif, and the western regions of the Atlas Mountains.
