The Arab Parliament commended on Saturday in Cairo the efforts of Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency under the Al-Quds Committee, in preserving the identity and legal status of Al-Quds and supporting the resistance of its inhabitants.
In a resolution on the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories issued during its 5th session, the Parliament called for increased coordination among Arab and regional parliaments to support the full membership of the State of Palestine in the United Nations, urging other countries to recognize Palestine in all international forums.
The institution further welcomed Arab and international efforts calling for an immediate and urgent ceasefire and ending the aggression in Gaza, as well as resolving the conflict in accordance with international conventions.
The Arab Parliament also reiterated its support for the Palestinian people and their just national cause until obtaining their legitimate rights to freedom and self-determination, and establish an independent Palestinian state with Al Quds as its capital. It also called on all international and UN parties to assume their responsibility for achieving peace, security, and stability in the Middle East.
During the session, there was also the adoption of a resolution on the situation of Palestinian women in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Mohamed Bakouri, President of the National Rally of Independents (RNI) group in the Upper House and the Economic Commission at the Arab Parliament, represented Morocco in the meeting.
The Moroccan delegation also included Khadija Hajoubi, Vice President of the Commission on Social, Educational, Cultural Affairs, Women, and Youth at the Arab Parliament; Mohamed Ayach, member of the Legislative, Legal Affairs, and Human Rights Commission; and Mohamed Lahmouch, member of the Political Commission.
The parties reviewed reports from the Foreign Affairs, Political and National Security Commission; the Legislative, Legal Affairs, and Human Rights Commission; the Social, Educational, Cultural Affairs, Women, and Youth Commission; as well as the Palestine Commission, which addressed significant developments in Palestine and efforts to end Israeli aggression against Gaza.
The participants also reviewed draft resolutions and laws submitted by parliamentary committees following their preparatory meetings for the session, aimed at monitoring all political events and developments in Arab countries throughout the year.
