Morocco’s Industry Minister Ryad Mezzour on Friday urged business leaders to double the number of jobs by 2030, highlighting the need for significant job creation to meet the demands of the growing labor market.
Speaking at the 6th Industry Meeting Morocco, Mezzour said the Moroccan economy can create between 150,000 and 200,000 jobs annually.
“With 300,000 to 350,000 young people entering the labor market each year, we must double our efforts to bridge this gap,” the minister said, calling on business leaders to leverage job opportunities, develop value chains, and innovate with new products and services.
The minister highlighted the achievements in the industrial sector over the past two decades, pointing out that job numbers have doubled between 2004 and 2023, as the sector’s added value and exports have soared by 3.7 and 5 times, respectively.
“Our strategies have always capitalized on market opportunities and intrinsic competencies, maximizing the benefits offered,” Mezzour said, noting the importance of over-investing and boosting competitiveness to meet Morocco’s internal demands.
