Morocco’s Commission for Personal Data Protection (CNDP), the Right to Information Access Commission (CDAI), and the Moroccan Anti-Defamation and Extortion Observatory on Friday signed a partnership agreement to combat defamation and extortion related to data misuse.
The agreement outlines joint action to ensure the protection of citizens, as well as public and private institutions from unauthorized publication and misuse of their personal information.
The partnership also seeks to curb misleading information and fake news by prioritizing the dissemination and access to reliable information.
In this respect, the three bodies collaborate to promote trustworthy and verified information, reinforcing constitutional rights through awareness campaigns and initiatives.
The cooperation also focuses on training for journalists and professionals handling personal data. The three entities will provide continuous training programs to enhance competencies in data protection, promote ethical and responsible practices in collecting, utilizing, and disseminating information, and ensure the right to access public information.
The partnership involves establishing national awards to commend public and private institutions that respect personal data protection and uphold the right to access information.
These awards will encourage compliance with established standards in personal data protection while enhancing access to information, and promote best practices in these critical areas.
