Morocco’s Government Council on Thursday approved a draft decree to establish the Moroccan Agency for Medicines and Health Products.
The decree (No. 2.23.1055), presented by Health Minister Khalid Ait Taleb, aims to enhance the regulation and oversight of pharmaceuticals and health products in the country.
“The decree is designed to assign the supervision of this new agency to the health ministry”, Government Spokesperson Mustapha Baitas pointed out, adding that this move aligns with the ongoing comprehensive overhaul of Morocco’s national health system,
The establishment of this agency is a crucial step in ensuring the safety, efficacy, and quality of medicines and health products in Morocco, Baitas said during a press conference following the Council’s weekly meeting.
The new agency is expected to play a pivotal role in improving Morocco’s healthcare infrastructure, benefiting both the local population and international stakeholders interested in the country’s health sector.
