Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Gabriela Sommerfeld confirmed Ecuador’s strong commitment to enhancing bilateral ties with Morocco across multiple sectors. This came during a meeting in Quito with Moroccan Ambassador to Colombia and Ecuador Farida Loudaya.
Minister Sommerfeld underscored the significance of deepening political, economic, commercial, cultural, scientific, and academic ties between Ecuador and Morocco. Both parties reviewed the broad spectrum of bilateral issues and stressed the need to reinforce the legal framework governing the two countries’ relations, dating back to February 1988.
“The discussions between the two parties provided an opportunity to explore horizons for advancing the bilateral partnership between Rabat and Quito across various sectors of cooperation,” well-informed source said. “The parties also highlighted their shared perspectives on several global issues of mutual interest within the framework of multilateral forums, including Ecuador’s current role as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.”
The Ecuadorian Ministry of Foreign Affairs echoed the significance of the meeting in a social media update, affirming that “the discussions encompassed diverse aspects of the bilateral agenda, including cooperation, trade, and investments in strategic development sectors, aimed at strengthening the relationship between the two countries.”
