French hotel group Accor will increase its investments in Morocco, ahead of the 2030 World Cup, the Group’s Chairman and CEO, Sébastien Bazin, announced on Thursday.
During talks with Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch and Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, and the Social and Solidarity Economy Fatim-Zahra Ammor, Accor’s CEO committed to significantly supporting the development of Morocco’s tourism sector, highlighting the longstanding 45-year relationship between Accor and Morocco.
The French businessman expressed Accor’s determination to enhance employment opportunities in the tourism sector through training and engagement of young Moroccans. For Bazin, the first step involves listening to and evaluating the Moroccan government’s ambitions and needs to respond effectively.
Ammor said that “the meeting is an opportunity to explore avenues of collaboration for tourism development in Morocco,” noting the sector’s current vibrant growth amidst preparations for major events like the African Cup of Nations and the upcoming World Cup, which require a significant boost in accommodation capacity by 2030.
Founded in 1967, Accor is Europe’s leading hotel group and the sixth largest globally, operating hotels, resorts, and vacation homes through ownership, management, and franchise arrangements.
