Spanish Institute Coordenadas for Governance and Applied Economics has underscored the “enormous potential” for promoting partnership between Morocco, Spain, and Portugal.
In an analysis published on Monday, the renowned Spanish think-tank emphasized the role of collaborative efforts in trade, security, migration, and cultural exchanges in stepping up these ties. This cooperation has fostered a relationship marked by adaptability and collaboration in an increasingly interconnected world.
The joint bid to host the 2030 World Cup “transcends the purely sporting framework, symbolizing the possibilities of a trilateral understanding that could extend to other areas,” noted the think tank, which studies the interaction between governance and applied economics, with special focus on social wellbeing, economic progress and environmental sustainability
The analysis also highlighted that these neighboring countries share over a thousand years of Mediterranean culture and historical collaborations.
Morocco is a vital trade partner for Spain and Portugal, with exchanges ranging from agricultural products to manufactured goods and services. Geographical proximity and improved transport infrastructure have facilitated cross-border trade and economic cooperation.
Security cooperation is another key area of coordination. Morocco plays a crucial role in the fight against extremism in the region, working closely with Spain and Portugal. Migration also stands as an important issue, leading to joint development programs and efforts to improve conditions for migrants.
