New Zealand golfer Ben Campbell won the second “International Golf Series Morocco,” held at Rabat’s Royal Golf Dar Es Salam on July 4-7.
Following a 277-stroke total, Campbell finished the tournament at the top of the leaderboard. American John Catlin finished in second place with a similar tally of 277 strokes.
Both golfers demonstrated their significant prowess on the course, culminating in a decisive hole conferring the championship title on Campbell.
The third place was shared by American competitor, Caleb Surratt, and Spanish contender, Eugenio Chacarra.
In a post-victory press statement, Campbell highlighted the challenging final day of the competition, vying with both Catlin, the frontrunner for the title, and the defending champion Jazz Janewattananond from Thailand.
He said he is looking forward to returning to Royal Golf Dar Es Salam to defend his title.
The event featured several of the sport’s top athletes. In the Professional category, Morocco was represented by Ayoub Lguirati, Othman Raouzi, and Ayoub Id-Omar.
Playing in the Amateur category under the Moroccan flag were Hugo Mazan Trommetter, Soufiane Dahmane, Aissa El Khadri, and Adam Bresnu.
The second International Series Morocco is the second Asian Tour golf event that has been hosted in North Africa to strengthen and develop golf in Asia and the Middle East.
