Moroccan nationals account for the largest proportion of international students in France, according to the latest annual report of Campus France, entitled “Student Mobility Key Figures for 2024.”
France had a total of 412,087 students enrolled in higher education during the academic year 2022-23. 45,126 of these were Moroccan nationals, representing the largest group of foreign students. Algeria with 32,147, and China with 25,605, followed second and third.
Over the past academic year, the number of Moroccan students in France increased by 3% from the previous year.
Moroccan students also represent the largest cohort of international students enrolled in French engineering schools, with a total number of 6,110 students.
“France remains a top destination for international students from across the globe, with over 412,000 students currently enrolled in the country,” the report stated, representing a “3% increase over the past year and a 17% surge over the past five years.”
