FIFA has prohibited 15 Moroccan teams from signing players during the summer mercato, including teams in Morocco’s professional league, second division, and amateurs, “Al Mountakhab” reported on Sunday.
After reviewing the teams’ compliance with FIFA rules, the international football federation found that 42 issues must be addressed conclusively after ruling against these clubs and banning nine professional league teams.
The Moroccan 1st League (Botola Pro) clubs banned from the summer Mercato are the Chabab Mohammédia Sports Club (CCM) – it had eight disputes, Mouloudia Club of Oujda (MCO) with seven disputes, Wydad of Casablanca (WAC) with five, Raja of Casablanca (RCA) and Olympic Club de Safi (OCS) with three, and Hassania Union Sport d’Agadir (HUSA) with only one dispute.
As for the Second division, FIFA prohibited Difaâ Hassani El Jadidi (DHJ) after recording three disputes, Raja Beni Mellal with two, Club Omnisports De Meknès (CODM), and Olympique Club de Khouribga (OCK) have one dispute for each.
Jeunesse Sportive de Kasbah Tadla (JSKT), and El Gara Renaissance (NG), from amateur’s league are banned for having one dispute for each.
According to FIFA’s legislative framework, a registration ban is one of the possible disciplinary penalties imposed on clubs by FIFA judicial authorities or the Football Tribunal for violating FIFA rules.
Once a registration ban is imposed, the club in question will be unable to register new national or international players for the period of the penalty.
The club will only be permitted to register new players after serving the complete ban or after the ban is removed by the FIFA administration.
