Morocco’s Ambassador to Colombia, Farida Loudaya, was awarded the Francisco de Paula Santander Medal of the Order of Law and Democracy in the Extraordinary Grand Cross category, on Thursday, by the Colombian Press and Media Society (SCP), the country’s leading media organization.
The honor was bestowed upon Loudaya in recognition of her active role in strengthening and consolidating relations between the two countries since her appointment in 2016.
SCP’s President Marta Blanco de Lemos presented the medal to Loudaya at a ceremony held at the Francisco de Paula Santander Museum, with the National Police of Colombia’s band performing the Moroccan national anthem.
Loudaya stated that the award represented strong recognition of the Kingdom’s role as an important global player at both regional and continental stages.
In her address to the organizers, Loudaya expressed gratitude for the Kingdom’s commitment to the “dynamic advancement of South-South cooperation” and its role in “fostering closer ties between Africa, the Arab world, and Latin America.”
Gustavo Casasbuenas, SCP’s Executive President, commended Loudaya’s “remarkable contribution to the development of bilateral relations in all areas.”
He further noted that “the award is a testament to the exemplary efforts of the Moroccan Embassy in Colombia to foster enduring friendship and mutual understanding between Moroccan and Colombian peoples.”
Several high-profile Colombian figures, including the Minister of Information Technology and Communications, Mauricio Lizcano attended the event.
