France’s AS Saint-Étienne (ASSE) announced on Wednesday the contract extension of Moroccan midfielder Aïmen Moueffek until 2028.
“After reaching 100 matches in the green jersey during the promotion playoff return leg, which AS Saint-Étienne won against Metz last month, Aïmen Moueffek will continue with his training club,” the French club said in a press release.
Expressing his delight at the extension, Moueffek said: “I am the happiest! I am returning to AS Saint-Étienne with pride and joy. I can’t wait to start this season in Ligue 1 after achieving the goal of the entire club, and the whole fan base.”
Echoing the player’s enthusiasm, ASSE Coach Olivier Dall’Oglio said: “I am very pleased to see Aïmen commit long-term to wearing the Green jersey… I strongly wanted him to stay after the excellent season he had.”
The coach highlighted that Moueffek “already knows Ligue 1, but he will discover it even more as he will be one of the key players in the squad.”
The Moroccan player in the U23 international has been with ASSE since he was 10 years old, as he worked his way up its youth academy.
