Mohammed Abdeljalil, Morocco’s Minister of Transport and Logistics, and his Korean counterpart, Sangwoo Park, met in Rabat on Thursday to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation for transportation issues.
During the meeting, both parties discussed ways of promoting cooperation between Morocco and Korea in the area of transportation in general, and in rail transport in particular.
Abdeljalil expressed his willingness to extend this bilateral cooperation to other areas, in particular civil aviation, road safety, maritime transport and shipbuilding.
He also stated that the meeting provided an opportunity to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation and share experience and expertise between the two parties in the area of transportation, noting Korea’s interest in certain large-scale rail projects that will soon be launched in the Kingdom.
Park highlighted his country’s desire to share Korean knowledge with Morocco with respect to the railway industry and infrastructure, such as engaging in skills transfer in railway maintenance and construction, as well as human resource training.
At the end of the discussion, Park invited Abdeljalil to an international infrastructure conference that is scheduled to take place in Seoul in September. He suggested that their offices prepare draft collaboration agreements for signature on the sidelines of the September conference.
Abdeljalil briefed the Korean minister on the 4th World Ministerial Conference on Road Safety, which will be held in Marrakech on February 18-19, 2025, and invited Korea to participate in the high-level event.
