Morocco’s House of Councillors and the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament (Parlatino) agreed on a collaboration agreement, on Wednesday in Panama City, to boost the King Mohammed VI Library.
House of Councillors Speaker Enaam Mayara and Parlatino President Rolando González Patricio signed the agreement to expand the role of the Library as a platform for communication between both parliaments in addition to Arab and African counterparts.
Through collaboration, they aspire also to promote Moroccan civilization and culture and establish a common legacy based on shared values between the Kingdom, Latin American and Caribbean nations.
This new agreement, which is based on the articles of the memorandum of understanding agreed upon by the two sides on April 25th, 2018, aims to enhance channels of communication and collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
Mayara, who is on a working visit to Panama at the president’s invitation, emphasized the House of Councillors’ commitment to transforming the King Mohammed VI Library, inaugurated in 2022 at the Latin American institution’s headquarters, into a symbol of Moroccan culture and a knowledge hub for parliamentarians, academic institutions, and civil society organizations.
González Patricio thanked the House of Councillors for its assistance in establishing the multimedia facility at the offices of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament, which proudly carries King Mohammed VI’s name.
This academic space represents the pinnacle of both parties’ bilateral and multilateral cooperation, leading to the establishment of the Afro-Latin American Parliamentary Forum (AFROLAC), whose secretariat is shared by the Parlatino and the House of Councillors.
