New car sales in Morocco totaled 82,286 in the first half of June, representing a 1.06% year-on-year increase, according to the Association of Vehicle Importers in Morocco (AIVAM).
In terms of vehicle segments, new passenger car registrations decreased by 0.24%, with 74,048 units recorded in Jan-June 2024. In contrast, light commercial vehicle (LCV) sales increased by 14.54% compared to the previous year, with 8,238 units sold, AVIAM half-year data showed.
The “Dacia” brand is currently leading the passenger car segment with a 26.65% market share, corresponding to 19,732 new registrations since the beginning of the year.
Renault is in second place with a 15.74% market share and 11,657 units registered, while Hyundai registered 5,933 units, representing an 8.01% market share.
In the LCV market, Renault sold 2,040 units, representing 24.76% of overall sales, outperforming its rivals Ford and DFSK, with sales of 2,040 units (24.76% market share) and 963 units (11.69% market share), respectively. Ford’s sales increased to 1,138 units (13.81% market share).
Concerning premium automobiles, Audi recorded a market share of 3.04% with 2,252 units sold, surpassing BMW (2.78% market share and 2,055 units sold) and Mercedes-Benz (2.03% market share and 1,505 units sold).
Porsche sold 354 units since the 2024 start, a 54.59% increase over the end of May 2023, while Jaguar sales decreased by 15% to 51 cars sold.
June sales figures show 15,855 units sold in the passenger car segment and 1,513 in the light commercial vehicle, for a total of 17,368 vehicles, a 0.15% drop year-on-year.
